Halloween in New York РParty Like it’s 1929

October 29th, 2008 · No Comments

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 29, 2008 – Noo.com plans to launch its new websites and fourth season of New Year’s in New York with a themed, Halloween launch party which takes guests back to the changing era of the roaring 20s and 1929 Wall Street stock market crash. Official invitation for media representatives can be found at http://www.noo.com/invites/2008/oct29/invite.html

The branded event experience organized by The Noo Group Ltd. intends to introduce several new product releases by the company as it celebrates its own changes on October 29th, 2008 at Ella lounge in New York. The event is sponsored by POM Wonderful pomegranate juice, Fusion Model Management, and Versinthe Absinthe.

New releases in 2008 include the company’s redesigned New Year’s event website and its extension, Noo Events; along with Noo Experiences, the company’s directory of fun things to do in destination cities.
Noo Events approaches the event marketing and ticketing industry with a niche customer base. Noo’s events are not one-off events of any kind, but rather annual events organized by venues and event producers. Noo’s objective with Noo Events stems from its objectives with New Year’s events. The mission of the Noo Events site is the “awareness and continuous improvement of annual celebrations and cultural event experiences”. The company approaches venues and organizers who are in the business of putting together annual events for their guests and helps them market and improve their experiences by allowing guests to browse event details, post reviews and rate events. Event ticketing and promotion are also offered to event organizers as part of Noo’s services.

Noo Experiences is another new brand extension being announced at the company’s Halloween launch party. The new website, still in early stages, has been receiving very positive feedback from businesses and individuals looking to market the activities they offer. New community feedback and promotion features are expected to be rolled out in the first quarter of 2009.

About Noo.com
noo.com is an online portal for the travel, hospitality and entertainment industry, made up of Noo Events and Noo Experiences. Noo Events allows event planners, promoters and venues to list their New Year’s or annual events and sell tickets through the company’s ticketing system. Noo Experiences allows businesses and individuals to list activities and fun things to do.

We’re Back! Bigger and Better

September 29th, 2008 · No Comments

Apparently somebody was spreading some rumor that Noo was going out of business this year. I don’t know who that was but s/he was right.

Earlier this year we changed our corporate structure and closed down Noo Year Hospitality LLC to allow us to become The Noo Group, Ltd. There were several reasons for the change. Fortunately the primary one is that we are expanding, NOT going out of business. Bigger team, a little money, a new idea, a revamped website and still a big dream. We’re not going anywhere anytime soon. We’re only getting started.

We recently launched the first stage of our new New Year’s website as we gear up for our 4th season. Our new site will be listing many more events this year along with other useful travel information and resources to help plan new year’s, whether you decide to stay at home or venture out. We’ll also be expanding our listings outside of New Year’s for other annual or cultural events.

Our latest idea, Noo Experiences is moving along as well. We’re receiving great feedback from businesses we are contacting and people who are visiting the site. We’ve still got a lot of work to do though. Look out for major improvements in usability to that site in January.

On both fronts however we haven’t officially announced our new sites. This is a bit of an unofficial announcement. Expect to hear the official announcement in a few weeks if you’re on our New Year’s mailing list. We’re aiming to also put together a fun Halloween party. Stay tuned for further detail.

Five Fun Things to do in New York this Summer

July 18th, 2008 · No Comments

Summer is passing by and the great outdoors are calling you!  It’s time to take advantage of the sun’s golden rays .  We added 200 experiences in New York this month and its time to get out and get active. Here are five experiences to get your summer on the right track.

  1. Have you been cooped up inside the office this summer?  Are the cube walls closing in?  Relax with your buddies and rent a boat in New York. Maybe even invite your boss? You might get a raise!
  2. If relaxing is not your style, you might be the adventurous sort.  Go white water rafting and get your adrenaline pumping.  Make a splash and have a blast.
  3. Not a fan of the water but still love a good adventure? Have you ever wanted to fly like a bird?¬† There’s plenty of sky diving spots around New York.¬† I‚Äôve gone sky diving and I am absolutely petrified of heights but it was probably the most exciting thing I‚Äôve ever done.¬† You won‚Äôt regret it, trust me!¬† If this 71 year old can take the leap of faith so can you!
  4. Do you like music? Do you wanna Rock? Are you one of the many people playing guitar hero or rock band?  Get out of the house and get on the stage.  You can open for a huge headlining band.  Check out the Rock and Roll fantasy camp. It will be here in New York August 4th. Sign up soon while you still can.
  5. Can‚Äôt stand the heat?¬† Get out of the kitchen and into a wine cellar.¬† Typically wine is stored between 55¬?F and 58¬?F (13¬?C‚Äì15¬?C). This could be the perfect experience if you don‚Äôt like heat and love wine.¬† Take a tour of the oldest wine cellar in the United States.

Keep checking out the site for more fun things to do in New York.  Go on one of these experiences and send us your story. You may be included on our site and you have a chance to win a free prize.  For more details contact us.

He’s a Machine! And Now Part of the Team

July 16th, 2008 · No Comments

We’re very excited to have Dan Dermody join The Noo Group. After a few weeks testing the waters, we all realized it was a natural right timing and right fit for him to fill the missing gap in our team. With a few years under his belt at Amazon and a life-long Seattle resident, Dan is on a mission: to find experiences faster than superman could. He’s SuperDaaaaan!

Another thrill seeker who just finished traveling for the last 6 months while taking himself out of his comfort zone, Dan’s also got some first hand experience skydiving, bungee jumping and bouncing in giant balls down hills. More details to come on that sport.

You’ll notice 20+ experiences being added to our site each day in the New York region. We’re rolling out new browsing features to Noo Experiences daily as well, so please keep checking back and sending us your feedback.

If there is anything you would like to see working on our site PLEASE LET US KNOW here.

To skydive or not to skydive? That … is the question!

July 8th, 2008 · 1 Comment

The answer? To indoor skydive and THEN to skydive!  For those of you who need to build up the courage to take that leap of faith, or insanity, however you look at it, this flight is for you.

On my last trip to Niagara Falls I came across a new indoor skydiving experience that I figured would be a great way to warm up to the real thing.

I didn’t really know much about indoor skydiving until I walked into the deafening loud wind tunnel. In what is the first sky diving air tunnel in Canada I took a few face dives onto a metal grate only to very happily be whisked up by the 120 mph current. Suddenly I was floating in the air, making damn sure that I didn’t make any sudden movements which would have tossed me out of the current. I spun and glided through the air at speeds I’ve never moved at  Рwithout actually going anywhere!

I signaled to the instructor with my thumbs to take me higher – I really wanted to feel like I was flying because I was only a few feet above ground. But he said “What difference does it make? You’re going to have the same sensation of flight at 20 feet vs at 3 feet. “ It was then, for the first time that I came to the realization that as humans we think flight is a measure of height. But it’s not. Flying at a few feet above ground vs 10, 000 feet has the same physical sensation.  Skydiving just has a bit more of a build up and adrenalin rush with the jump.  It made me feel much more comfortable about jumping out of a plane this summer.

What’s up with Noo Experiences?

June 24th, 2008 · No Comments

So a few people have been poking their nose and asking us “What’s up with noo Experiences?”.

The first half of 2008 has taken up our time with activities like planning, fundraising, restructuring and finalizing the addition of new team members (i.e. Philip Cotty, woohoo!) Life also threw in some visa hurdles for our multinational management team, a little sad family news and some Manhattan couch surfing.

We‚Äôre glad to say that we‚Äôre now entering our next stage of product development. What does this mean? It means in the next 6 months all the thoughts that we‚Äôve scribbled out since last summer are going to start turning into practical business solutions and useful web applications. We‚Äôre still focusing on fun things to do in New York but that should change by end of year. The ‘New York’ part we mean. The ‘fun’ is a keeper ;-)

We‚Äôre also recalibrating our engine for our 4th Noo Year‚Äôs season, continuously trying to improve the New Year’s Eve experience for both venues and event goers.

The second half of 2008 is very exciting for us and we hope for you too. We can’t wait to show you!
